MRC’s engineering team has designed and created the first ever, 100% drop-in, dual-mode decoder for the superbly engineered Life-Like Proto 2000 PA locomotive. This beautifully designed DCC/DC sound decoder provides all 28 NMRA functions and its exceptional Brilliance™ sound really “brings this life-like loco to life”!

Unrivaled in its features, functions and performance, MRC amazingly makes the installation easy enough for a child to accomplish…. Simply unplug and unscrew the OEM decoder, and replug & replace with the MRC dual-mode decoder. That’s it! No wiring, no soldering or any modifications, whatsoever! The powerful, 28mm speaker is mounted on the decoder board and provides MRC’s true, live capture, full fidelity sound including four different sets of diesel rumbles, actually recorded (railside) by MRC’s Sound Engineer from real diesel locomotive prime movers. The decoder comes with the ALCO 244 prime mover as the default choice. Naturally, MRC makes available (33) horns, eight-bells, brakes, air releases, pop valves, cooling fans, coupling sounds and more. Directional lighting is included too.
